CGTC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Open Season Friday, October 31

Warner Robins, Ga. - Don’t be scared, Titans Basketball is back.

The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams return this Friday, opening the season with a pair of road games.

Women’s Basketball travels to South Carolina to take on Denmark Technical College at 11 a.m., while the Men’s team visits Tennessee for a match-up with Cleveland State Community College at 7 p.m.

In its second-year under head coach John Gordon, the women’s program looks to improve on both ends of the floor from an 8-19 overall record, 6-9 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Conference (GCAA). The Titans averaged just 60 points per game while allowing opponents to net 75 points per game.

The team is hopeful it can replace scoring from last season with freshman talent.

“Coach has been giving me the green light for this season,” said freshman forward and captain, Laterria Green. “He trusts me, I trust him. I've proven myself in practice for him to know he can give me the green light, and I have executed and advanced on what he wanted me to do while still growing.”

As fast paced as NJCAA basketball can be, both teams are reliant on players who can come in and adapt quickly and be effective on the court. Even with the reliance on newcomers, sophomores still make a difference in holding teammates in managing roles and expectations.

"My goal is to keep playing my role, continue to rebound, continue to play defense, and let my teammates continue to play their role,” said men’s team captain and sophomore forward Devon Robinson.

The Men’s program finished the 2024-2025 season with an overall record of 17-10 and 9-7 in conference play, falling just short of an opportunity for the postseason.

Entering his fourth year leading the charge for the Titans Men’s basketball program, Gerald Fitch has his eyes and expectations geared on postseason basketball, and feels Robinson is the best choice as captain to help accomplish their goals.

"I feel like I'm more of a leader by example type of captain. It means a lot that coach picked me out for this," Robinson added.

The first home games for the Titans are on November 12, at 5:30 against Denmark Tech at Larry Walker Arena in Warner Robins, and for the men, the first home regular season game is December 3 also against Denmark Tech.

The men’s basketball team closes the exhibition season on November 5 in Larry Walker Arena in Warner Robins against Charlotte Athletic Institute at 6 pm. For information on all games, visit www.cgtctitans.com
