Montalvo Ranks No. 18 Nationally in Assists for NJCAA

Warner Robins, Ga. - The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) recently named sophomore Brithani Montalvo as its Week-2 Player of the Week for Women’s Soccer.
Montalvo, a Criminal Justice student and midfielder in her second year from Meadowcreek High School in Gwinnett County, is the association’s assist leader through eight games with five assists. At the time of her recognition by the GCAA, stats did not include recent games and had her ranked in the Top-4.
According to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) official statistics for Division-1 Women's Soccer, Montalvo is tied for 18th nationally in assists.
Having made her mark as a defensive midfielder as a freshman, in her second season Montalvo is soaring offensively, providing a solid offensive connection for her teammates further up the midfield. She has also contributed one goal for a total of seven points on the season, ranking ninth in GCAA.
Montalvo assisted on or scored on 6 of the 18 goals for the Titans on the season, meaning she creates and contributes to 33 percent of all scoring chances for the team.
“Brithani is having a fantastic season and is a major contributor to our success offensively and defensively,” said head coach Annette Weiche. “She is a key part of what we do and is an excellent representation of the College’s student athletes.”
With a 4-4-1 record (3-4 in conference), the Titans are currently in fourth place in GCAA-Division 1 standings.
